Let’s hear it.
Now that the news of our baby is out I am accepting advice (and/or gifts) from the Denver In Translation community. Thing is, Judi get’s lots of mom advice from everyone we know, but people don’t seem to be giving out a lot of dad advice so…
Whatcha got for me?

i know that this won’t be hard for you at all, but be as encouraging to your wife as possible. it’s hard for a woman to watch her body grow at an exponential rate, regardless of the fact that there’s another life in her body. and her hormones are all over the place. serve her as you’ve never served her. paul did that for me and he helped make pregnancy an absolutely joyful experience!

That’s great advice! Thanks T.
I would reccomend buying rogaine for your baby’s face so his beard grows faster. Yes, it will be a boy, I’m calling it.

Find an obstetrician you and your wife love (not love like that, LOL) and trust.
Start shopping for pediatricians now, because the good ones may not immediately have openings, and the due date is sooner than you think.
Plan as if your wife is going to be on bedrest from 20 weeks on, it will help the last 17-20 weeks be so much more relaxed if she has an uncomplicated pregnancy, and not so overwhelming if she has complications.
You will be told all sorts of things that you “NEED” for baby. All you really truly need to get home from the hospital is a car seat, diapers, and a couple of weather-appropriate outfits. In an absolute emergency, the baby can sleep in a small suitcase instead of a crib for a little while.
In Baby 101, I was told something that has served me well countless times. “You’re bigger than the baby.” This is true on so many levels, and still applies now that my kids are 6 and almost 3.
And buy a baby monitor, preferably one with multiple receivers that can run off battery, and always keep one within earshot, even when you think your child is old enough to call for you if he needs something. Someday when you feel like having the living daylights scared out of you, ask me why and I’ll email you the story.

start searching around for the manliest [thats right, im calling boy also] name you can find.
here are a few suggestions..
nebuchadnezzar.
stirling.
duncan.
maxum/magnus.
wolf.
note that each of these names are followed by a period.
it’s because their so manly in their nature that they need no other selling points.
there’s my advice.
oh, and start a baby blog. theres nothing like putting your kid in the international spotlight before they have any consenting power :]

And speaking of manly, start looking now for macho diaper bags. I don’t care how secure you are in your manhood, you’re gonna feel odd carrying around something with bunnies and teddy bears on it.

You did have a wedding right? Like that, this is not much about you. Get over it. Your going to be a dad, strutting around is what you get to do. Enjoy.

@Alice: I’m gonna start looking for those macho diaper bags immediately.
@Kristopher: I am seriously considering every one of those names!
@Mark: Yeah, I plan on just trying not to annoy Judi. Not sure if I’m capable.
as far as manly diaper bags, im sure burberry [http://is.gd/feKY] or prada [http://is.gd/feNF] would cast shadows of respect on anyone who would dare laugh at you toting around a bag..
