Stop hiding in your comfort zone and follow the move of God.
What would you do if God gave you a “sloppy, wet kiss”?
This is the buzz going around lately. We’ve been playing the song “How He Loves” in Catalyst since December. We’ve played it in the main Sunday morning service twice. The kids of Catalyst love the song. Since we’ve played it in the main service we’ve received complaints about the lyric: “Heaven meets Earth like a sloppy, wet kiss”. We’ve also received rave reviews about the lyric.
What is it about this lyric that stirs so much emotion, such a hot/cold response? Why do people hate this lyric so much? I love it because I want to have that passionate of a relationship with my Holy Saviour. I love it because it shakes people out of their comfort zone. Instead of just warming the pew they get up and actually think about what they’re singing. It challenges people to find God in a way they may have never found Him
We’re not gonna stop playing the song on Sundays and I’m sure we won’t stop getting passionate responses about it. God is moving, I just wanna hitch my wagon to Him and hold on tight.

Great, great praise and worship song for today which, I believe, connects with people and with God. I stress that this is both a great praise and a worship song. There are good praise songs and good worship songs but not that many that are both. Is that one particular line slightly raw? Yes. Do I fully support this in the main service? Absolutly! Great job Pastor Mark!
I don’t get why people whine about EVERYTHING, it’s like people go to church just looking for something to take issue with. Bums me out.
people who complain always speak the loudest. it’s the people that love what’s happening that don’t say anything cause they’re too busy enjoying the moving of the Spirit. pastor marilyn gave a message about 6 months back and said that if you have time to find things that are wrong, you’re not worshiping. man, i loved that message!
So true.
I know that this song really broke me down and got me reaching out to God in an entirely new way.
I love Jesus. (that is all I can add here)
Don’t be bummed that people are complaining. Here’s how I look at it. If people are in a “rut” or worshipping inside their own comfort zone, God can’t do anything unusual. So, when they are shaken out of that confort zone–even if they don’t like it–it gives the Holy Spirit the liberty to do something different. As we witnessed on Sunday when Marilyn got up and ministered at the end of Awesome God.
Whether it’s “too loud’ or they don’t like a song, doesn’t matter. God is just using that to pull them out of their “just keep everything the same” stupor! Keep it up, Pastor Mark!

i will never forget hearing that song the first time…
visiting a church where even the very old people responded to it
I was wincing watching them, thinking they would pick op stones.
Instead the picked up their feet and danced.
keep up the great work, my man

and this song (see the OCT 19 highlighted post…took some time.
do you know it?
I have to admit, the first couple of times that this song was played at church I couldn’t sing that one line because it just felt weird. But after church one time I came home and my dog (he’s pretty adorable) was extremely excited to see me, as per usual. Within minutes of sitting down, I was covered in “sloppy wet” kisses. And I don’t know if I really want to compare myself to my dog, but talk about passion! I want that kind of happiness and excitement in my life towards God. Since I made that realization every time I sing that line it reminds me to strive to be who I want to be. That’s my 2 cents. Possibly 5.
