i’ll just keep my mouth shut
There’s a fine line between honesty and just being a jerk.
Sometimes in ministry that line is even more vague or even non-existent.
So I try to just keep a healthy distance to stay safe. It doesn’t always work out that way though.
“The first virtue is to restrain the tongue; he approaches nearest to God who knows how to be silent, even though he is in the right.”
I want to be honest and speak my mind but being in ministry I don’t always have that luxury.
Sometimes I take that luxury and end up being a jerk.
that’s all I got today

I was recently struggling with this same idea- especially the restraining your tongue thing. being in ministry you choose to surrender any freedom of speech which is practically impossible for me. God taught me that wisdom is more important than freedom of speech- here is the verse He showed me:
“But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.”
James 3:17
“willing to yield to others” wow. pretty challenging.
Kate, that’s great encouragement.
babe…you’re not a jerk – trust me, you’re not.

I totally hear you on this Mark.
And I think if you recognise that it’s a fine line to walk, it shows that you’re not a jerk.
